What To Do When A Carrier Damages Your Vehicle
Damage to vehicles during shipping is not uncommon unfortunately. When it happens, the broker and/or carrier is supposed to work with you to cover the damages by their insurance. However most brokers and carriers are shady, and will avoid assisting you at all costs to avoid incurring increased insurance premiums, and risk losing their insurance all together which would put them out of business.
More often than not brokers and carriers are reluctant to provide their insurance information. In this case here’s the solution.
How to Lookup Insurance Information on a Carrier or Broker.
1. Visit the FMCSA Licensing and Insurance system website, and perform a Carrier Search.
Lookup the Broker or Carrier that moved your vehicle by:
- USDOT Number (accurate)
- MC Number (accurate)
- Legal Name
- DBA Name

2. Click the link near the bottom following “Blanket Company:”
You will see a list of process agents that handle insurance claims in each state. Contact the process agent that is in the same state your broker is registered in.
3. Search the process agent name on Google for contact information so you can file a claim.
