Some examples of Moving Fraud
I chose Ship Auto Now solely because their price of $575 for shipping from New York (NY) to Florida (FL) was the lowest I received. This turned out to be a tremendous mistake and a clear indicator of their “bait-and-switch” scam tactics.
Minutes before my vehicle was scheduled for pickup, I received a call claiming the driver was in an accident, complete with an attached picture. The next day, “Bob Doss” informed me he could not find a replacement driver for anything less than double the contracted price.
When I refused to pay this outrageous increase, Bob repeatedly called back with progressively lower, but still inflated, prices—none of which came close to the original $575 quote.
Given the dishonesty and immediate price increase, I told Bob I had lost all trust in his company and requested to cancel the order and receive a full refund of my deposit.
Not only did he refuse to refund the deposit, but he also continued to call back and yell at us. This aggressive behavior demonstrates a profound lack of professionalism and basic customer service.
Had I checked the BBB ratings or read online reviews before giving a deposit, I would have immediately seen the pattern of misconduct and never hired this company.
Do not fall for their low initial price. This company uses deceptive practices, alleged driver “accidents,” and outright price gouging to extort more money from customers, and they will illegally hold your deposit when you cancel.
If I could leave zero stars, I absolutely would. I have no idea how this company remains in business, particularly in the service industry. This company is demonstrably fraudulent. They quoted one price and provided a contract confirming that price and a specific pickup date. On the day of shipping, they suddenly and unilaterally changed the price, completely dishonoring the signed agreement.
When I refused the price increase and stated I would cancel the service, the company became belligerent and abusive. The company employed deeply unprofessional tactics:
They gave me false phone numbers for management.
They hung up the phone on me.
They were entirely dismissive of my legitimate contractual concerns.
They lied not only about the price but also about contact information, their address, and delivery details. If you are looking to be robbed, lied to, and severely disrespected, this is the company for you. I have already reported their fraudulent conduct to Consumer Affairs and the Better Business Bureau (BBB). DO NOT TRUST THIS COMPANY.
I highly recommend that anyone considering this company vet them thoroughly beforehand. This company lives up to its “F” rating with the Better Business Bureau (BBB) to a tee. After committing to their service, their behavior immediately deteriorated:
They became extremely uncommunicative.
They refused to answer important customer questions.
They failed to comply with basic customer instructions.
Once they have your business, all communication and service stop. Their terrible BBB rating is well-deserved. Choose a different, reliable company.
I recently used Ship Auto Now in September 2025 and had a profoundly negative experience marked by atrocious communication, constant delays, and blatant price confusion. Please DO NOT use this transport company. The process was a logistical fiasco. I was repeatedly given different stories and had to constantly re-confirm dates:
I was initially confirmed for a September 9th pickup. That date was missed due to excuses like the driver not being able to secure his truck, followed by the claim that the driver’s license was suspended.
In less than 48 hours, I was confirmed with six different drivers. Finally, 18 hours after the scheduled pickup time on the day of service, I was contacted by a driver who was completely unaware of the prior arrangements or confusion.
Due to their operational failures and logistical chaos, they attempted to raise my rate by $300. I insisted on honoring the original contract price, which resulted in a four-day delay to my entire shipping schedule.
Crucially, I was never told that the final payment fee was required to be CASH on delivery (COD). This is a significant piece of information that should be communicated upfront in the contract.
This company demonstrates zero organizational skills, engages in double-talk regarding pricing, and will delay your shipment due to their own incompetence. The headaches and delays are simply not worth the initial “low” quote.
Buyer Beware: Terrible Experience with Ship Auto Now – Avoid at All Costs
I had an unequivocally TERRIBLE experience using Ship Auto Now to transport my vehicle from California (CA) to Minnesota (MN). I chose this company based on their initial low quote of $700, which turned out to be a deceptive bait-and-switch.
The worst issue was the last-minute price change. Approximately three hours before the scheduled pickup on August 11th, the owner, “Bob,” called to inform me the price was being raised dramatically to $1,375 (a total of $1,575 minus the $200 deposit already paid).
He cited staffing shortages as the reason for this sudden, nearly 100% price increase. While I acknowledge external challenges, this issue is not the customer’s burden. The ethical business practice would have been to notify me on the preceding Friday, giving me time to secure a more affordable and reliable alternative.
This last-minute increase left me stranded, forcing me to accept the exorbitant new price or face a major logistical crisis.
The second major issue was the complete failure to honor the agreed-upon delivery timeline, resulting in significant personal and financial inconvenience.
Initially, I was promised a 4-day shipping time, expecting delivery by August 15th. When attempting to confirm the ETA, I received no response from the driver or dispatcher. Upon finally connecting with Bob, I was told the car would not arrive until August 22nd—a full week later than promised.
Bob was fully aware I needed the vehicle before my first day of work on August 18th. This delay forced me to rent a car from Budget until the 22nd, incurring unforeseen expenses. Bob offered no apology for this major inconvenience.
The communication throughout this process was unprofessional and unacceptable. On August 20th—two days before the rescheduled August 22nd arrival date—Bob called to say the car had arrived unexpectedly.
Again, there was NO advance warning or notification about this change in the schedule. I had to arrange a representative to accept the car on short notice because I had planned my schedule around the August 22nd date he provided.
When I pointed out the unacceptable lack of notice, Bob offered excuses and again, NO APOLOGY for the continued communication failures and inconvenience. Basic customer service skills are clearly missing from this operation.
Astonishingly, the day after dramatically raising the price on me, Bob had the audacity to ask for a 5-star review. This demonstrates a total disconnect from reality and a profound lack of respect for his customers.
Ship Auto Now engages in deceptive pricing practices, fails to honor its financial and timing commitments, and displays a complete lack of necessary customer service and professional communication.
I am clearly not the only customer to have been taken advantage of. I strongly urge potential customers to avoid Ship Auto Now and choose a more trustworthy and reliable auto transport company.
This company employs classic bait-and-switch tactics. My initial conversations with “Brad” confirmed a price of $1,000 to ship my vehicles. Crucially, I was sent an INVOICE for this amount, not a preliminary quote, which suggested a firm commitment.
However, on the scheduled day of pickup, I was informed that the cost would be an extra $500, allegedly because “that is what the driver is requesting.” This last-minute demand, after a confirmed invoice was issued, is unethical and unacceptable business practice. They are effectively holding your vehicles hostage to demand more money.
Lesson learned: I should have done more research. It has since come to my attention that this company has been dropped by the Better Business Bureau (BBB), which is a significant warning sign about their credibility and business ethics.
DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY.
I will update this review once I confirm whether or not my vehicles were successfully delivered.
