Shank Bros has been transporting cars since 2009, for many years we have transported snowbirds to and from Florida to New York and vice versa. We don’t often take loads from the load board (Central Dispatch) due to the fact we have built up a large base of our own repeat customers however on April 7th we needed a car to fill an empty spot on the truck. We then requested a load from Vamos Logistics (see attachment A). We communicated with this broker via text and offered to haul this car (see attachment B). The pickup and delivery information was provided and the agreement was cash/zelle at delivery clearly stated on original posting.
The claim that $1100 is excessive charge is ridiculous in fact it is the rate we charge (and most other carriers operating legally) to all of the customers coming out of Florida this time of year, attached are some invoices from some of the other customers on this same trip North.
From what I understand it appears this claimant was possibly scammed by his original broker. In my opinion there is a major problem with double brokering throughout this industry. Carriers have no way of knowing if a posting is fraudulent and these problems are becoming more and more common. Feel free to call me if you have any questions regarding this case, I am available anytime.

Some examples of Moving Fraud
deliberately low-balling an estimate to later ask for more money (bait & switch)
withholding customer belongings unless they pay significantly more than the quoted price
We had a car shipped from Florida to NY. Best bait and switch transport company in the business!
